Many GlobalStar partners createdsubstantial growth in this time of economic downturn through change. Severalpartners presented case studies illustrating their recent successes in signingnew multinational clients and achieving substantial savings for existing onesby changing business processes.
One conferencepresentation, titled "How Do I Change to make my Profit Grow," delivered byJamie Pherous, MD, GlobalStar Australia, demonstrated how he increased netincome in spite of a challenging environment by combining cost reductions andhigher gross margins. "The most important thing to keep in mind inreducing expenses is not to sacrifice market strengths and competitiveadvantages in the process," explained Pherous, adding: "Identify the driverswhich make the most difference to profitability, and separate those you can andcannot control." Examples of controllable items included winning newbusiness and renegotiating with suppliers, whereas reductions in client spendfell into the second category. "Another key success factor is involvementby the front line agents in developing, communicating and monitoring the plan,"added Pherous. As a result GlobalStar Australia managed to grow newclient sales by 30% from July-08 to date. Following the presentation, partnerscommented on how they could apply his strategies in their own localmarkets.
